Title
Note on Art
Subject
A note from LeRoy Neiman on his artistic style.
Description
This note from LeRoy Neiman provides a sort of pseudo-objective biography of the artist’s style. The writing opens noting Neiman's delicate relationship with the world of criticism and fervent commitment to his oft scoffed at personal aesthetics. The artist then continues, describing where these artistic proclivities were matured (i.e. “born in Chicago, honed in Paris, [and] broadened in NY”). The document closes with an emphasis on the Neiman's embeddedness in society, more generally, and how this position shaped, and continues to shape, his work.
