A note on food culture.

This note from LeRoy Neiman touches on a variety of aspects of a food and dining experience. Largely, the note is divided into three sections: first—a list of the artist’s aphorisms on food, second—a theoretical musing on the social role of bartenders, and thirdly—an anecdote concerning a Las Vegas pit boss and casino bartender. This range then speaks to breadth and texture of Neiman’s interest in food culture.

The Bartender serves as a confidant, he
Will give a five (for ten) from his own wallet to a
Customer who has had too much to drink
so he may take a cab home - not drive
or stagger the streets. He'll call the
cab cab and [?] from his back
Food
A Las Vegas pit bass, 20 years (old) was advised by
his friend, (a) casino bartender, that his 22 year
old mistress was hanging at the bar and leaving
with a variety of men customers. The old guy shouted
back "I don't know want to know what she does. Keep
it to yourself.
I want no trouble with her."
