Title

Note on Art

Subject

A personal note from LeRoy Neiman on English artist William Hogarth.

Description

This note from LeRoy Neiman is a brief citation of William Hogarth's engraving Cockpit (1759). The record provides no personal annotation outside direct reference. That said, Cockpit was acquisitioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1891. Neiman, living and working in New York's Upper West Side first saw the work there, endowing the piece with a personal connection. Neiman, an advid printmaker and lover of Hogarth, would often visit the museum's print collection.
