Title

Notes on Art

Subject

A personal note from LeRoy Neiman on valuing art.

Description

This note from LeRoy Neiman abstractly ruminates on the value of art. Juxtaposing individual expression and imitation, he brings up the question of artistic, and intellectual, ownership. Neiman had many problems with forgery over the course of his career, and this writing is then most likely touching on those experiences. He closes the note with, “works purchased at gold value,” a phrase of ambiguous meaning.
