Kid in St. Paul – no heroes – no advisors on your own – Depend on own judgement.
I was no athelete to speak of – did wrestle on the Washington High School team with Tully Hickman (from Rondo St.) a black body builder used to take me on. 145 lbs. He was always working out and too sweaty and slippery to get a grip on.

Embarrassed to do Football posters (student dance posters too) because it was not prestigious. The attitude was to be a member of team was more significant
It was not worth the effort – teamwork and plays were not for me.
